Aleksander Konstantinov was born in 1953 in Moscow, where he lives and works today. In 1977, he earned a degree in Electronics and Mathematics from Moscow University. He later become an Associate Professor in the department of Applied Mathematics at Moscow University. He received his art education in Moscow's Art Ateliers in 1970-1980. His mathematical background-- his fascination with exact science, technology and the machine-- is evidently expressed through his art. He works in various media, sculpture, graphic arts and installation, and he uses traditional as well as contemporary technologies in his artistic process. During the Soviet era, he worked as an underground artist, and since the beginning of Perestroika, Konstantinov actively participates in exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
